Data display
Incoming data is displayed on the PC Screen via the CSurv (& CSurv DRM) application. By default a broad spectrum scan is displayed. This default spectrum display covers GSM850,900 & DCS1800 & PCS1900 bands (quad band for international use).
Profiles and Filtering
The filter options enable granular control over what data the application displays. Filters can be saved and re-used in future surveys. Once a filter has been saved it is known as a profile and becomes a tab in the software interface. Profile tabs allow you to switch between a number of filters quickly and easily.
Filter options include:
- Network Name
- Channel Number
- Signal Level
- Cell ID
Although Profiles allow the user to see filtered data, no data is discarded by CSurv. The stored log file contains all data allowing the user to extract information as desired using common tools such as Excel or Access.
A post processing engine allows the gathered data to be replyed, offering Fast Forward, Rewind, Stop and Pause. Data can be replayed at upto 64x normal speed to enable long term logging to be reviewed in miniutes. Filters can be changed modified and stored during the post processing activity.
BCCH Lock
BCCH_Lock allows the user to select a specific BCCH channel, locking Csurv to that channel. Usual BCCH data will be decoded and displayed, in addition relevant data from the the six (6) best surrounding cells will be decoded and displayed in the mouse over window in addition to being stored in the session file.
This feature allows the user to conduct a drive survey logging data related to a specific BCCH channel and the changing best serving surrounding cell data until lock to that BCCH is lost (due to low signal or unacceptably high BER).
At any time during the drive survey, the user may change the focus of Csurv to any one of the best serving surrounding cells and continue the drive survey with Csurv locked to the newly selected BCCH
Single Channel or Cell display
User definable filters can be configured to show only the data available from a specific cell (BSIC) or an ARFCN. In this way, the coverage of a specific BSIC can be identified in a drive survey.
Network Survey
Network Survey, allows the CSurv unit to act like standard Mobile equipment, logging onto a specific network (user selectable) and reporting best serving cell, upto 6 surrounding cells, signal level & C1, C2 values
SIMLess operation
CSurv requires NO SIM, thus CSurv can operate on any network. CSurv presents the user with information from ALL available networks, including covert, military and base stations not yet in public use. The user can decide what network coverage to monitor and what base stations to exclude.
Third Party Integration
CSurv has been designed with third party / systems integration in mind. CSurv is configured and controlled via a TCP/IP , WiFi or Bluetooth Virtual serial port. The output of the hardware is available in comma delimited format and for third party developers the data is stored on hard drive as a file and is also available in memory via a pointer from mutext dialogue.
Developments
CSurv is constantly evolving... the 3G solution provides network survey funtionality, in a very small compact solution with Mapping via Mappoint.
CSurv 2G remote access allows a survey to be carried out remotely while the data is streamed back over 3G data or GPRS via a VPN.
